About the opening of the museum

In April 2022, the Museum in Memory of Gennadiy S. Kazanin was solemnly opened in the building of the head office of the Marine Arctic Geological Expedition.
The opening of the museum was timed to coincide with the half-century anniversary of the expedition to which Gennadiy Kazanin devoted most of his life.
During the time of operation, the Museum in Memory of Gennadiy S. Kazanin has already been visited by key partners, employees and veterans of the company, representatives of the administration of the Murmansk Region, interns and other guests and friends of JSC “MAGE”.

About Gennadiy S. Kazanin

G.S. Kazanin is a leader and a person who has created a unique climate, a distinctive spirit of JSC "MAGE", which is a reason to be proud for all who work now, and who worked at JSC "MAGE" before.
G.S. Kazanin – General Director of the Marine Arctic Geological Expedition since 1999 to 2020, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Laureate of the Russian Government Prize in Science and Technology, Honored Geologist, one of the country’s leading experts in marine geophysics, participant of marine expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctic, awarded the Order of Salavat Yulaev of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
G.S. Kazanin was born on July 2, 1948 in the village of Pokrovka, Fedorovsky District, Bashkir ASSR. After graduation from school, he entered the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute named after V.I. Ulyanov (Lenin) - the best institute of the Soviet Union in the field of space radio communication.

Labour history

Gennadiy Kazanin devoted a significant part of his work to the Marine Arctic Geological Expedition. His way began in JSC "MAGE" in 1978 as a senior geophysicist of the shallow water party. Since 1983, G.S. Kazanin was the Chief Engineer of the expedition, in June 1999 he was appointed General Director of JSC “MAGE”.
Under Gennadiy Kazanin's leadership, JSC “MAGE” transformed into a modern and dynamically developing company that provides a wide range of geological and geophysical services for studying the structure of the Arctic and World Ocean shelf seas, transit and coastal zones in compliance with international standards of quality, occupational safety, health and environment.

Memory of Gennadiy Kazanin

Gennadiy S. Kazanin passed away on March 30, 2020.
Every year on the first Saturday of July, the village of Pokrovka holds the G.S. Kazanin Memorial Day and the Pokrovsky Festival. The Company has erected a bust in memory of Gennadiy Kazanin and also has built a church in honor of the icon of the Virgin "Khlebennaya" which was inaugurated and consecrated on November 20, 2021.
