Geological Mapping

JSC “MAGE” has rendered services on preparation of consolidated geological maps and schemes of the North Seas' shelf on the basis of the State Geological Map (Gosgeolkarta) -1000. By the end of 2011 there were prepared for publishing 14 sets of the State Geological Map including 28 sheets of international classification and covering the West Arctic shelf of more than 2 million sq km in area.

At the present time JSC “MAGE” is preparing sheets of the Barents Sea (2012) for publishing.

Integrating geological and ecological data acquired on the West Arctic shelf and in the adjacent areas for 40 years of research activity, information of Gosgeolkarta – 1000 shows a depth structure and tectonics of the region, structure of the sedimentary cover, stratigraphy and composition of Pre-Quaternary and Quaternary formations, geomorphological features of the sea-floor and adjacent land, types of recent bottom sediments, environment conditions.

The set of each sheet published separately contains the following materials:

1. Main maps and schemes (published at map reproduction plants) :

2. Explanatory note to the set of published maps.

3. Additional maps, schemes, geological – geophysical sections and other graphics:

4. Accompanying digital base of initial geological – geophysical data containing factual and derivative information which supports, bases and expands the content of the maps. It includes:

Digital sets of the Third generation represent an information system combining cartographic information and initial data bases and serve as a multi-functional geological – ecological basis of all forms of environmental management which provides effective and ecologically safe development of mineral resources of the Russian Western Arctic shelf.

On the basis of mentioned materials and integrated geophysical exploration data JSC “MAGE” has rendered services on creation of GIS-packages of geological – geophysical information of the separate areas of the Greenland, Barents, Kara, White and Laptev shelves.
