Digital Processing
Two computer clusters are the basis of MAGE’s processing power. The most powerful of them is a compact server Sun Fire X4640 (of 4U height) consisting of 8 six-core processors AMD Opteron 8435 (2.6 GHz/75W) with a main memory capacity of 128 Gb. The cluster comprises the external RAID Sun StorageTek 2540 with 2 controllers and the total capacity of up to 20 Tb. The tape library Sun StorageTek SL24 supporting LTO4 standard is used for a long-term data storage and backup.
The second most powerful computer cluster consists of 6 dual-processor computational nodes Arbyte Alkazar on the base of 12 processors Dual Core Xeon 2.66 with a main memory capacity of 96 Gb. The cluster comprises the external RAID Xyratex F6412E of 32 Tb supporting an on-line seismic data backup. The tape storage IBM 3592 (of the 2nd generation), IBM 3590, DLT 8000 are used for work with raw field seismic data.
There were arranged 6 work stations on the base of dual-processor 64-bit stations Arbyte CADStation WS 620 in order to perform seismic data processing using ProMAX 2D/3D, Focus 5.0 2D/3D.
All the computational nodes, the disk enclosure, the tape storage, the graphics workstations are united with high-speed gigabyte networks Gigabit Ethernet and InfiniBand.
